The fact is that if you are in charge of any training or teaching for your organization, TBR is for you. The most successful trainers are those who find ways to bridge the gap between theory and applied knowledge. Unfortunately, the long-held model is to use a firehose approach where a ton of information is thrown at the students. You’ve heard the following, “You have the PowerPoint presentation and other online resources are available for you to reference in the future.” Right! How many of these students do you actually think are going to review a comprehensive slide deck in the future? None!
If you provide corporate training for a living, such as Agile Scrum, PMP®, ITIL®, and so on ... taking this course can dramatically alter your delivery. For example, you will learn how to engage your learners within the first minute they are in the class ... even before the initial lesson is taught. Your interactive lessons will engage the students so that real learning takes place.
TBR offers proven techniques that even has the students teaching one another. Once the interactive lessons are created, you can reuse them in future training sessions, making the necessary adjustments. The point here is that you will be one of the few trainers that makes learning fun and not laborious. You can imagine the positive comments that students will spread to others, especially via social media.
We’ve all attended the dreaded PowerPoint-driven classes where the instructor reads slides after slide ... after slide! In some cases, students are falling out of their chairs because they are super-bored. The reason classes are taught in this predictable manner is because very few instructors know anything different. They grew up in a lecture-based delivery model, and never learned an alternate approach to delivering content.
This is where TBR can make a huge difference! You will learn simple approaches to getting students out of their chairs and learning material. For example, if you teach a Finance course, the students will can work in groups to discuss the value of creating an investment portfolio. They will discuss stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and other investment tools, and they can quickly share what they learned with the other groups. This approach increases the level of engagement and values the importance of psychological safety. The bottom line is that learning is fun!
During this dynamic, two-day training program, you will also practice using the 4Cs instructional design “map” with the content you teach, regardless of the complexity of the topic, size of the class, or level of learners. The 4Cs is a brain-based, four-step, Accelerated Learning instructional design model now used by hundreds of Agile coaches, Scrum trainers, school teachers, and university instructors around the world!
Training from the BACK of the Room! is based on our current understanding cognitive science and how we can make learning stick. It is very interactive and by the end of a 2-day TBR class, attendees will be able to:
